What to expect

An acupuncture treatment will be approximately one hour (initial appointments are 2 hours). The treatment will include a review of your present health condition, including important diagnostic questions to determine the state of your system constitutionally. I will take your pulse and look at your tongue every visit and often palpate certain areas where qi flow is inhibited. Gathering this information enables me to effectively diagnose any specific imbalances of Qi that may have contributed to a person’s health problems.

Once the imbalances of Qi are detected, I place fine sterile needles at specific points along meridian pathways to unblock obstruction and balance Qi throughout the body. This can eliminate pain and dysfunction, restore balance, and spark the body’s innate self-healing capacity. You will rest quietly with the acupuncture needles in for about half an hour.

Other therapies may be included in the treatment as needed, specifically: cupping, moxibustion therapy, massage therapy and nutritional advice.
